BCEQ 2012 Annual Environmental Education Awards!
On June 13, 2012 at our Board Meeting, BCEQ will recognize three awards to individuals who have helped further the quest for a safe, healthy environment in which to work and play in the Bronx:
BCEQ Founder Helen C. Reel “Keeping it Reel” Formal Educator Award
Prof. Bernard Stein
Hunter College, CUNY School of Journalism
Educating the students and community as founder of Hunts Point Express and Mott Haven Herald, staffed by J-School students, and as editor of the Riverdale Press, championing borough wide environmental causes.
Gouverneur Morris Non-formal/Community Educator Award
Ocynthia Williams and Frances Tejada
United Parents of Highbridge of the Highbridge Community Life Center
Organized the community for a much needed Middle School — one of the first in the Bronx focused on environmental science and sustainable energy, and built that way too!

Student Award
Nathan Hunter
Manhattan College Student
Leader in the College’s sustainability committee and in student environmental organizations.
