BCEQ RESOLUTION ON RAOUL WALLENBERG PARK 4-10-2013
April 20th, 2013 Posted in Board Meetings, Educational Environmentalists, Front Page News, Parks CommitteeBCEQ RESOLUTION ON RAOUL WALLENBERG PARK
Whereas, the New York City Council passed a resolution[1] creating the designation of the “Raoul Wallenberg Park”, the Bronx Council for Environmental Quality wished to re-establish the original name and coordinate the placement of corresponding signs along the perimeter.
Secondly, BCEQ requests that the four acres of natural habitat within the westerly portion of Seton Park be transferred to Raoul Wallenberg Park directly contiguous so that parkland management along Palisade Avenue be consolidated, in contrast to the recreational facilities throughout the rest of Seton Park. The result would not cost taxpayers anything since no new parkland would be purchased.
Motion made by Tom Bird, Seconded by Karen Argenti and Dena Robins,
Unanimously approved, no abstentions, 4/10/2013
[1] On November 28, 1990, Mayor David N. Dinkins signed a bill sponsored by Council Member June Eisland naming the property Raoul Wallenberg Park.
