MTA ENDANGERING TIBBETTS BROOK DAYLIGHTING & GREENWAY PROJECT
RESIDENTS UPSET AFTER THIRTY YEARS OF PLANNING

JANUARY 24, 2025

After thirty years of the community fighting for the Tibbetts Brook Daylighting & Putnam Greenway Project, there is a new threat to its progress. The New York City Department of Environmental Protection completed the 100% design ready for construction, an easement land use process, and is ready for the next step. In 1958, Putnam Commuter Railroad was closed; and soon turned into an abandoned wilderness eyesore filled with garbage and illegal dumping. The property owner, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Metro North has presented a series of change orders endangering the timely completion of this multi-faceted project.

Residents are asked to contact their elected officials to “Save Tibbetts Brook Daylighting & Putnam Greenway Project.”

Story to follow in the next few weeks.
